Examining The Usability of Open Green Spaces by Different Users In Kastamonu City

Nowadays, the concept of design for everybody needing to be handled in all kind of architectural studies. It is known that people with disabilities can have intensive problems while integrating into society in today’s Turkey. These problems, spread to many parts of the life, make difficulties to disabled individuals in terms of socializing and functionally adapting to their society (Karatas, 2002). This situation causes to decrease the life quality and it is against to human rights. Open green spaces, organized for all individuals for benefiting the positive psychological effects of the nature and for providing socialization, need to be dealt with by considering users’ physical function disorders or deficiencies and the borders of their physical situations as this is essential for equality of opportunity. The context of the study is determining the usability of open green spaces in Kastamonu by all citizens whether in a comfortable way or not. In this study, utilisation satisfaction of the fields was found out with the help of accessibility, activity and usability, comfort and image and lastly socialization concepts. The results show the usability of open green spaces for all people in Kastamonu is not appropriate for most of the concepts
