Centro Parroquial Católico en Renens, Suiza
1970
The originally of this church is mainly in its planform and the reinforced concrete roof, in the shape of a hyperbolic paraboloid.
In the annex, next to the church, there is a house for the priest, confession boxes, class rooms and other dependencies. Below the church there is a large hall, with a floor area of 619 m 2 and two meeting halls, each of 80 m 2 area.
The church itself has seats for 480 people, and an additional chapel with 70 seats, as well as confession boxes, the baptistry and sacristy.
This project is a fine example of how large areas may be roofed over without intermediate supports, at a reasonable price, by means of reinforced concrete shells.
