An Accurate Fault Location Method for Distribution Lines Based on Coupling Parameter Identification Using Two Terminals Data

2019
This paper proposes a fault location method for distribution lines based on coupling parameter identification using two terminals data. In view of the problems of insufficient deployment of on-site phase selectors and inaccurate line parameters in medium voltage distribution network, the line coupling parameters are identified by characteristic loop voltage equation with coupling parameters based on pre-fault PMU recording data. On this basis, the corresponding fault distance percentage is calculated by genetic algorithm using the recorded data of fault transient process of three-phase synthetically. The weighting coefficients are constructed by the signal energy of current fault components and the percentage of fault distances of three phases is fused to determine the fault location. The method can locate the fault point without the accurate parameters of the measured line and the phase selector. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the method.
