Some Physico-Chemical Aspects of Dry Sorbent Injection for Removal of HCI and HF from Waste Incinerator Flue Gases

1989
As part of a study on the uses of dry sorbent injection to control emissions of hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride from waste incinerators, we investigated the properties of some calcium-based sorbents at incinerator temperatures. Decomposition of such a sorbent with formation of calcium oxide causes a marked increase in its surface area. At higher temperatures, however, this effect is offset by sintering.
