AVALIAÇÃO DOS NÍVEIS DE ESTRESSE EM PACIENTES PRÉ-CIRÚRGICOS

Stress can be defined as a reaction of the organism in situations of great need of adaptation, in order to achieving an internal balance, prolonged exposure to such stimuli may result in physical and psychological fatigue. These kinds of responses are adaptive, since the survival of man depends on the mobilization of the mechanisms of the body. The aim of this article was to conduct a descriptive analysis of stress levels in preoperative patients, with a sample of 16 individuals from a private hospital with ages ranging from 20 to 76 years. It was used as an instrument of data collection the Inventory of Symptoms of Stress for Adults of Lipp – ISSL and from the results it was observed that 50% of the participants presented stress with growth of physical and psychological symptoms as the day of the surgical procedure was approaching.
