Transition to school and school readiness is the basis for a child's success in the future. Research indicated that unsuccessful transition to school, influenced child’s adjustment and their achievement in school. School readiness is not only depending on children’s readiness, it is also influenced by family readiness, school readiness, and community readiness. The National Education Goals Panel (NEGP, 1995), stated 5 dimensions that have a role in school readiness, including physical health and motor development, socio-emotional development, cognitive development, language development, motivation and work attitude of children. This study aims to gain comprehensive understanding regarding transition to school and school readiness from the perspective of children, parents, and teachers. A mixed-method study was applied to collect the data. The results show that the concept of transition to school is understood by teachers and parents as a child-oriented period to explore and knowing their schools and teachers. Kindergarten is considered important in supporting the success of the transition to elementary school. Readiness for primary schools is assessed by parents and teachers as academic readiness, therefore teachers and parents emphasize the importance of literacy, writing and numeracy.
