Land Use and Cover Change in China and the Neighboring Countries from 2001 to 2009

Land use / cover change can reflect the variation characteristics of land development to some extent,thus how to put the land use / cover change and the national development strategy combination is becoming an new issue.Based on the 2001 and 2009 MODIS land use / land cover data in study area,this paper analyzed the land use / cover change pattern,process,and driving forces,and then the direction of bilateral cooperation between China and other neighboring countries is proposed.The results show that:(1) From 2001 to 2009,the area of water and forestland are decreased,by contrast, grassland,farmland,construction land and unused land are increased.(2) Except the natural factors,policy,population growth,economic development and other human factors are the main factors due to the land use / cover change in China and the neighboring countries.(3) We should attach importance to international cooperation with Russia,India,Kazakhstan and other neighboring countries in the following field:forestry,agriculture and animal husbandry, cross-border trade and so on.That do contribution to maintain the stability of the national border areas,and make the bilateral win-win development into reality.
