Gestão da demanda de água no Agreste pernambucano

In scenario of water crisis, such as that experienced by the Brazilian semi-arid region in recent years, the sustainability of water supply has been the subject of exhaustive discussions and searches for measures that point to a more efficient water consumption. In this sense, the present work approached the study of the hypothetical implantation of alternatives aimed at the reduction of water consumption, in a subdivision located in the Caruaru city - PE. The technological alternatives of water demand management adopted for implementation - economizing equipment, rainwater harvesting and gray water reuse - were evaluated according to a multicriteria perspective, taking into consideration environmental, technical, economic and social aspects, identified through projects, market research and interviews with residents and specialists. Using the multiple criteria decision support system PROMETHEE II - Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment of Evaluations - it was possible to verify that the implantation of water saving equipment would be the most suitable alternative for the region.
