Status and Advance of the Lightweight Design of Machine Tool Structures

With the development of high-speed machining,the lightweight design of machine tools structures is an inevitable request to guarantee high accuracy and high-speed machining.At present,studies are concentrating on the stiffening ribs design,including structural parameter optimization,distribution improvement,material updating.Computer aided modeling and analysis softwares are widely adopted by designers.The light and efficient biological structures are applied to machine tool structural bionic design,which offers a new solution to lightweight design of common mechanical structures.
