노인 남성에 있어서 최대산소섭취능력과 골밀도와의 관련성

2009
To evaluate the relationship between cardiorespiratory fitness and osteoporosis, the maximal oxygen uptake and the bone mineral density of 244 healthy old men (mean age 64.14±3.0) were analyzed. The bone mineral density of the 2-4th lumbar vertebrae, femur total and femoral neck were measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) while the maximal aerobic capacity was determined by directly measuring the oxygen consumption (VO2peak, ml/kg/min) during the exercise on the treadmill. As a result, the bone mineral density of femur total, femoral neck and lumbar spine was significantly related to the maximal oxygen uptake, weight and lean body mass but not percent fat. Therefore, as old men with higher cardiorespiratory fitness showed greater femoral and lumbar bone mineral density, it is suggested that a cardiorespiratory exercise may play an important role in preventing osteoporosis in elderly men.
