Algunas consideraciones en la relación entre fotosíntesis y el rendimiento de grano en trigo

2005
An increase of grain yield of bread wheat cultivars has been frequently linked to the photosynthesis rate because all the dry matter produced in the plant depends on this process. Genetic variation in photosynthesis rate among genotypes of wheat and other crops is commonly of interest to physiologists and breeders, because it can be used as a direct physiological indicator of high yield. Our studies have demonstrated that genetic variability in flag leaf photosynthesis rate exists among bread wheat genotypes, and grain yield can be associated with photosynthesis in an environment with high radiation levels (>1600 µmoles m-2 s-1). The results also indicate that the photosynthesis rate is highly inheritable from plants F5 to plants F7 , and it can be used for identifying high yielding genotypes.
