International technology transfer through a co-operative research and development agreement (between INEL and BNFL)
1996
A common need and complementary skills has enabled British Nuclear Fuels plc (BNFL) and the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL) to establish an international collaboration to take place through a Department of Energy (DoE) Co-operative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). The CRADA is in the field of biodecontamination, that is removing contamination from concrete structures, to facilitate their reuse or demolition and disposal, using naturally occurring micro-organisms. The success in formulating the CRADA was based on a win - win approach by all concerned. This win - win approach embodies the business needs of BNFL plc and its US subsidiary BNFL Inc, together with the interests of the DoE, taking particular and full account of US competitiveness.
