P380 Comparison between fixed an automatic continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in patients with nose problems after starting treatment with CPAP

2006
Our hypothesis was that CPAP-induced nasal symptoms can be improved by using autotitrating CPAP device. Twenty patients with obstructive sleep apneahypopnea syndrome (SAHS) were included in a randomised singleblind cross-over study: one week at laboratory-determined fixed pressure and 1 week on autotitrating CPAP. There was no differences in any of the test analysed such as: Epworth score, specific questionnaire for nose problems and leaks. Compliance was similar in both groups. (6.2 vs. 5.8) Despite that we did not find significant differences in the main outcomes some patients reported that they feel more comfortable when they use the Automatic CPAP pressure.
