Interplay between coherent and dissipative dynamics of bosonic doublons in an optical lattice

This work investigates the interplay between coherent and dissipative dynamics by observing loss of bosonic doublons in the presence of strong three-body decay rates. The authors find that only a non-trivial combination of a beyond standard Bose-Hubbard lattice model and modified on-site three-atom dynamics explain the experimental findings.
