Antifungal activity of 2-thioureidobenzimidazole and some of its derivatives

1994
This paper describes the studies on antifungal activity of 2-thioureidobenzimidazole, and some of its derivatives against twelve species of fungi. The results of this screening, using turbidity method, were highly encouraging except in the case of Fusarium solani and Aspergillus flavus. A commercially available broad spectrum systemic fungicide Bavistin was used as the reference compound. In a few cases the test compounds were found to exhibit much higher activity than Bavistin. A note worthy results of this screening is the high activity exhibited by five of the six test compounds against the human pathogen-Gymnascella dankaliensis
