Primary prostatic GIST vs Rectal GIST: A case report of a 62 years old male with a pelvic mass

Abstract Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is the most common mesenchymal tumor of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). Extraintestinal GIST is a tumor with identical morphology and immunohistochemical profile that occurs outside the GIT. Primary prostatic GIST is a rare entity, and the diagnosis of such a case is usually confused with rectal GIST due to the anatomical proximity of these two organs. Here, we present a case of a 62 years old male patient who presented with a pelvic mass that was diagnosed as GIST after histological examination.
