Study on High Efficiency Separation Oil Mist Separator of Diesel Engine

2011
This paper investigates the crankcase ventilation system of an inline four cylinders and four strokes diesel engine, concerning the gas blow-by, oil contained in it and the crankcase pressure. During the process of optimization, the baffle plate structure of the oil-gas separator is redesigned, while keeping the cylinder head cover structure and the gas blow-by unchanged. The simulation focuses on the flow characteristics of a labyrinth oil-gas separator integrated in the cylinder head cover, especially the velocity field, the pressure field and the separation efficiency. The simulation results demonstrate that the average separation efficiency of a redesigned oil-gas separator can reach 96%. The lubrication oil consumption is reduced by averagely near 50%, compared with the former separator.
