The Evaluation of 64 Multislice Spiral CT Angiography in the Diagnosis of Cerebral and Carotid Artery Stenosis and Obliteration

2007
Objective To explore the value of 64 multislice spiral CT Angiography(CTA) in diagnosis of cerebral and carotid artery stenosis and obliteration.Materials and Methods CTA of the cerebral and carotid artery were performed in 62 patients that suspected cerebral and carotid artery stenosis or obliteration.Vertebral artery(VA),internal carotid artery(ICA),anterior cerebral artery(ACA),middle cerebral artery(MCA),posterior cerebral artery(PCA)were individual observed.Two-dimensional and three-dimensional reformation were performed in all cases by means of curved multiplannar reformation(CPR),volume rendering(VR),maximum intensity projection(MIP),multiplanar reformation(MPR) respectively. Results Among the 62 cases, there were 19 normal cases and 43 abnormal cases.VA stenosis were found in 18 and obliterations were in 7,ICA stenosis were in 30 and obliterations were in 7,ACA and MCA stenosis were in 11,obliterations were in 2,PCA dysplasia were in 2.The origin variations of vessles were in 4 cases, etc. Conclusion VCT Angiography could clearly show the cerebral and carotid vessels.Combined two-dimensional with three-dimensional VCT Angiography is a useful and noninvasively method to identify cerebral and carotid artery stenosis and obliterations.
