Collection efficiency of liquid samplers for microbiological aerosols

Airborne microorganisms can cause respiratory diseases, like infections and allergy, or contaminate sterile products. Evaluation and control of contamination by airborne microorganisms requires samplers that collect the relevant particle sizes and preserve the microorganisms in a viable state. In this study a dynamic test system was used to test collection efficiency, inlet excluded, for a cyclone sampler and a modified personal impinger. Some results on survival of microorganisms during sampling are also presented.
