SNOW, FOG AND FISH

The author reflects on two ship collisions and two grounding incidents that occurred in 1986 on the periphery of the North Sea. The incidents occurred in a variety of weather conditions and cargoes involved ranged from liquefied gas to a trawl of fish. Two of the accidents highlight the advantages of double-bottom construction.
