Influence of sialic acid content on biological activity in vitro of recombinant human erythropoietin

1999
The sialic acid contents in varous lots of the semi-finished recombinant Human erythropoietin (rhEPO) were detected by resorcinol color assay, then the relationship between the detection result and in vitro or in vivo biological activities of rhEPO was studied. The result showed the positive correlation between the sialic acid content and the in vivo biological activity of rhEPO. However, no influence of the content on the in vitro biological activity of rhEPO was observed.
