Large angle scattering of 100 MeV α-particles from 40, 44, 48Ca

Abstract The elastic and inelastic scattering of α-particles from 40, 44, 48 Ca has been studied at E α = 100 MeV between ≁ lab = 16–166° . The elastic angular distributions show an overall similarity; some differences, however, in the large angle cross sections for the different isotopes are still present. The data have been analysed in terms of the optical model and the folding model. The data are discussed in connection with those at lower energies, where the back angle anomalies were observed.
