High-speed computers and sophisticated simulation software allow for the numerical analysis of complex fluid dynamical and acoustical problems. Three problems encountered in practical situations are presented. First, a mixing problem of natural gas flows of different composition is treated. Secondly, a typical valve in natural gas pipelines is analyzed with respect to its acoustical properties. Finally, the propagation of the ultrasonic metering signal in the test section of an ultrasonic gas flow meter is considered.
