Corrosion and artificial caries‐like lesions around amalgam restorations

Corrosion of amalgam restorations may be a contributing factor in the development of secondary caries. Three commonly used alloys with different corrosion potentials were tested in vitro. The higher the corrosion resistance, the smaller was the artificial caries-like lesion formed around the restoration.
