A smoke waste heat recoverer of a gas water heater comprises a housing (1), and a water channel (2) and a smoke channel (3) isolating from each other and being arranged in the housing (1). The smoke waste heat recoverer is characterized in that a plurality of heat pipes (4) are arranged in the housing, evaporation sections of the heat pipes (4) are situated in the smoke channel (3), and condensing sections of the heat pipes (4) are situated in the water channel (2). The smoke waste heat recoverer utilizes smoke heat to preheat or secondarily heat cold water in a gas water heater by means of heat transmission through heat pipes, thereby effectively improving utilization rate of recovered smoke heat.
