Cáncer endometrial: histeroscopia y citología peritoneal

2002
summary The objective was to compare the presence of malignant cells in the abdominal cavity in patients with endometrial adenocarcinoma with those who had hys-teroscopy and another group who did not. The results were based on a retrospective study carried out on patients with a diagnosis of endometrial adenocarcinoma in the Virgen de las Nieves Hospital in Granada from 1998-2000. Of the 46 patients operated on for endometrial carcinoma with peritoneal washing cytology, 32 (69%) had previous hysteroscopy, and all of them had a D&C for hystological diagnosis. There were 3 positive cases from the peritoneal washing cytology, none of which had previous hyste-roscopic examination. We conclude by saying, that in our hands, diagnostic hysteroscopy with physiological solution as the distension medium in endometrial carcinoma is not a risk factor for peritoneal dissemination.
