Providing hardware support for shared virtual memory between physical local and remote memory

In one embodiment, the present invention includes a memory management unit (Memory Management Unit MMU) with entries for storing translations of virtual addresses into physical addresses, each entry includes a location indicator to indicate whether a location of the corresponding entry in a local - or remote memory. In this way, a conventional virtual memory space between the two memories, which may be separated by one or more non-coherent links are shared. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
