Single bunched beam generation using conventional electron gun for JLC injector

1991
For the electron source of the JLC (Japan Linear Collider), a high-current, low-emittance, and multibunch beam is required. In order to generate the beam, a conventional gun with a fast grid pulser and subharmonic buncher (SHB) system is being developed. An attempt has been made to generate a high-current beam with fast rise and fall time. At present, one can generate a short pulse beam, with a peak current of over 5 A and a full pulse width of less than 2 ns. An amorphous core CT is used for monitoring the beam. The beam will be able to ride on a single bucket phase of the SHB. A 14 ns flat-top beam will be generated for the 10-bunch mode. >
