THE NEUROMUSCULAR BLOCKING ACTION OF SUCCINYLCHOLINE (DIACETYLCHOLINE)

1964
Succinyicholine (diacetyicholine) has been found to exhibit strong neuromuscular blocking action in the cat, rabbit and mouse but the paralysis is of relatively short duration. This action can be greatly prolonged by eserine and evidence is presented which suggests that the prolongation of action is due, at least in part, to the inhibition by eserine of certain agents responsible for the inactivation of diacetylcholine.
