It is an optical arrangement for a headlamp described which comprises at least one laser light source (1) and a diffractive optical element (3), which is adapted from the laser light source (1), light emitted to bend into a plurality of diffraction orders, wherein a predominant portion of the light in the first diffraction order (6b) is bent. Further, the optical assembly at least one aperture (7) for absorbing light in the diffraction orders (6a, 6c, 6d) outside the first diffraction order (6b). There is further provided a headlight, in particular a motor vehicle headlight, be described with the optical arrangement.
