Enhancement of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi on Antioxidant Capacity of Roots of Trifoliate Orange under Temperature Stress Conditions

2011
The effect of inoculation with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus,Glomus mosseae,on soluble protein content,SOD and CAT activities of roots of trifoliate orange(Poncirus trifoliata) seedlings under low(15℃),optimum(25℃) or high(35℃) temperature conditions was studied. The results showed that low or high temperature significantly inhibited mycorrhizal colonization of trifoliate orange, and the inhibition was more obvious under the conditions of low temperature.Under temperature stress, the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus significantly increased soluble protein contents of roots and enhanced SOD and CAT activities of roots, implying that mycorrhial inoculation is beneficial for enhancing antioxidant capacity of roots, thus increasing tolerance capacity to temperature stress.
