FIRE CONSEQUENCES ON MOTORWAY BRIDGES

This paper reviews the fires that occurred on bridges located in the United Kingdom, Italy, Luxembourg and on the French toll-motorway network and illustrates their consequences. The range of temperature to which the bridges were exposed is deduced from fire effects and it is compared to the ISO 834 temperature vs. time curve. The probability of fire occurrence on a bridge and the structure reliability are presented, as well as the needs for further research studies. (A) For the covering abstract see ITRD E121600.
