Peculiarities of Pulse Laser Melting: Influence of Surface Evaporation.

1993
The heat phenomena in pulse laser action including heating, melting, evaporation, cooling and solidification are investigated by means of numerical simulation. The process of surface evaporation is considered as a heat loss, i.e. the free surface of the melt is supposed to be undeformed. The influence of the heat loss evaporation on the temperature distribution field and the melting pool geometry is analyzed for the titanium slab. The proposed model permits to obtain realistic values of surface temperature and melt depth for comparatively low values of energy density flux. The heat phenomena in pulse laser action including heating, melting, evaporation, cooling and solidification are investigated by means of numerical simulation.
