Bird-headed dwarfism with cleft palate: Report of a case

Bird-headed dwarfism, a rare form of proportionate dwarfism, was recognized as an entity by Seckel in 1960.The condition comprises (1) dwarfism, (2) low birth weight, (3) microcephaly, (4) mental retardation, and (5) beak-like appearance of the mid-face.Recently, we experienced a case of Bird-headed dwarfism.She was 9 years 5 months old. The face and clinical features compared well with Seckel's descriptions, and were associated with submucosal cleft palate.The present study dealea with the oral malformations of this rare syndrome using roentgenographic analysis and radiographic cephalometry.
