Chemical constituents of balsam from Liquidambar orientalis

The balsam produced by wounding of Liquidambar orientalis trees is known in commerce as levant storax. In the present research work, levant storax was chemically investigated by standard methods of testing for its chemical characteristics and commercial value. The volatile oil and saponified sample of the balsam were analyzed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry for the chemical composition.
