Effect of depression on the clinical outcome in patients with USP treated with elective PCI

Objective To evaluate the significance of depression on the clinical outcome in patients with USP treated with elective PCI. Methods The study group consisted of 240 patients with USP treated with elective PCI that were divided into two groups: group A:one hundred and seventeen patients with depression,including 81 persistently depressed patients and 36 remittent depressed patients;group B:one hundred and twenty -three persistently nondepressed patients. The endpoint was compared between the two groups at 12 months following assessment. Results At 12 months following assessment,the patients with depression were at increased risk of MACE when compared with patients without depression. Conclusions Patients with USP suffering from depression show worse clinical outcome. Key words: Unstable angina pectoris; Percutaneous coronary intervention; Depression
