Magnetic Properties of the Compounds of the Yttrium‐Cerium‐Hydrogen System
1974
The temperature dependence (100 to 500 deg K) of the magnetic susceptibility of Y- Ce hydrides (YH/sub 1.9/ to Ce/sub 0.54/Y/sub 0.46/H/sub 1.9/ ) is reported. The effective magnetic moments per Ce atom agree well with those of the Ce/sup 3+/ ion, indicating that the magnetic properties of the alloy hydrides are determined by the localized 4f Ce electrons. The exchange interaction appears to be antiferromagnetic. The effects of H and Ce content on the susceptibility are discussed. (DLC)
