An infrared drying technique as a rapid reliable means of cell concentration estimation in fermentation systems

1996
A rapid infrared drying cell concentration estimation technique for use in fermentation systems was developed based on commercially available equipment. This system gave accurate results when compared to the traditional oven drying technique, and enabled results to be obtained within 15–30 minutes. This technique overcomes some of the problems associated with cell concentration estimation based on microwave or convention oven drying.
