Calcium Binding Proteins and Experimental Models of Epilepsy

1988
The function of two calcium binding proteins, Calbindin D28k and Parvalbumin has been examined in the kindled rat and genetically epileptic (El) mouse. Calbindin D28k is reduced in specific areas of both animal models of epilepsy while Parvalbumin is greatly elevated, (particularly in cortical regions), of the El mouse.
