AN INVESTIGATION OF METHODS FOR PRODUCTION AND VERIFICATION OF HIGHLY RELIABLE SOFTWARE

A joint project between Technical Research Centre of Finland and OECD Halden Reactor Project with the aim of investigating methods for developing and testing computer programmes with high requirements for reliability has been completed. This paper gives a short outline of the project. The main emphasis is on the experiences gained during the project and on the conclusions and recommendations made on the basis of this experience. Methods used for the specification, programming, programme analysis, testing, and reliability assessment are discussed together with their virtues and weaknesses.
