Syntheses and structures of vanadium(III) complexes containing 1,3-diaminopropane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetate ([V(trdta)]-) and 1,3-diamino-2-propanol-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetate ([V2(dpot)2]2-)

Vanadium(III) complexes with trdta, Na[V(trdta)].3H 2 O and K[V(trdta)].4H 2 O, were synthesized by the reaction of vanadium(III) chloride with sodium and potassium salts of trdta, respectively, where trdta denotes 1,1-diaminopropane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetate. Crystal structure analysis of Na[V(trdta)].3H 2 O showed that the complex contains a hexadentate trdta ligand and adopts a distorted octahedral geometry.
