Relevance at an Intermediate-Range Force for Neutron-Antineutron Oscillation Experiments

1986
The effect of an intermediate-range force coupled to the baryonic number on the neutron-antineutron experiments performed with neutron beams is estimated. Because of the different couplings of the new field to the baryons and antibaryons, the experimental sensitivity for the oscillation time tn is strongly suppressed. The only published experimental limit on tn, estimated to be 106 s without taking into account the new force, would be reduced to 3 104 s.
