Discriminating Gaussian characteristics of plate structure's surface wind pressure based on goodness of fit test

2012
In order to study the surface wind pressure's fitting degree to Gaussian characteristics in a structure's certain parts and special wind directions,a goodness of fit test was introduced to test and analyze the wind pressure time histories of sample points. The result demonstrates that wind pressure in the most part of windward side is in a Gaussian distribution, but non-Gaussian distribution areas scatter around 'stagnation points'.Some small vortexes with high energy occur at the bottom of leeward side, and its surface pressure exhibits obvious non-Gaussian characteristics. In crosswind direction, most surface areas exhibit obvious non-Gaussian characteristics due to the influence of organized vortexes. The goodness of fit test is proved to provide an objective result rather than subjective outcome to overcome the traditional method's deficiency of inability to draw definite conclusion based on the parameters like skewness, kurtosis, etc.
