Decay of the giant dipole and quadrupole resonances in 16O

Abstract The particle emission of electro-excited oxygen is studied including both one-particle-one-hole and two-particle-two-hole degrees of freedom. A new formalism is presented which allows to treat both direct and Pauli-exchange diagrams of finite-range forces in the nuclear continuum. The method is applied to the analysis of both inclusive and exclusive electron scattering data.
