Research Development of Rare Earth Glass-Ceramics

Rare earth(RE) glass-ceramics developed on the base of oxide glass ceramics are very complicated materials with diversiform components and phases.The addition of RE contributes extensively to the property enhancements and the versatility of the materials.Timing summary and continuous exploration of the effect of RE may pave the way for the success of the future development of RE glass ceramics.The effects of RE on the high-temperature viscosity,crystallization,phase separation of several typical glass ceramics in the sequences of the ceramics' fabrication process are reviewed.Several difficulties and deficiencies of the current research are also discussed with an aim to shed more lights for peers.
