2019
Introduction: Sexual function is an important level of human functioning, and its satisfactory level necessary to achieve mental well-being. However, according to many reports, in the group of patients treated psychiatrically this is the area particularly exposed to the occurrence of dysfunction, both in the somatic and mental sphere. The aim of the work is to verify the relationship between the level of anxiety felt and the level of sexual functioning among people treated psychiatrically. Material and methods: The study involved 40 patients treated psychiatrically aged 18-65, fulfilling the criteria for the diagnosis of mental disorders and 40 healthy people who gave informed consent to participate in the study. Self-Sexuality Questionnaire, Sexual Women Function Index (FSFI), erectile dysfunction questionnaire (IIEF), Sexual Disorders Questionnaire and Scale Mell-Krat separate for women and men and Anxiety Questionnaire: STAI Questionnaire, or Inventory State and Characteristics of Anxiety. Results: Comparison of the research group with the control group showed correlations of the mental state with disorders of sexual function. In the study group, sexual dysfunction was also more common. Significant positive correlation (r = 0.48, p <0.05) in the KZS-S study in the category of "sexual dysfunction" indicated that women in the research group achieved a higher result in this section than women in the control group. In men classified as mentally ill, a widespread occurrence of sexual dysfunction was also observed. The results of the IIFE questionnaire showed much more frequent problems with inducing and maintaining an erection (r = 0.52, p <0.05). Conclusions: Psychiatric patients are definitely less satisfied with their sex life than healthy people. In people with comorbid anxiety or anxiety disorders, sexual dysfunctions are more often observed. This proves the need to study the sexual sphere of patients in order to improve their well-being.
