Evaluation of Machine Tool Digital Twin for machining operations in industrial environment

Abstract There has been an increase in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the area of machine tool research; however, few of these capabilities have been applied in industrial conditions. One of the highlights of Twin-Control EU funded project (http://twincontrol.eu/) is the application and validation of these features in industrial settings. This paper summarizes the evaluation of Twin-Control modelling features which are applied in both automotive and aerospace sectors. The proposed features provide accurate estimations of machining process performance that can be used by industrial companies to improve machining process design and control stages.
