Inhibition of 49 Chinese herbal extracts against Erwinia carotovora subsp.Carotovora from Zantedeschia hybrida

2011
The ethanol extracts of 49 species Chinese herbal were tested for inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria(Erwinia carotovora subsp.Carotovora) from Zantedeschia hybrida. The minimal inhibitory concentration and the minimum bactericidal concentration of some herbs which had significant inhibitory effects to pathogenic bacteria were detected, and pot control efficacy of which is the most significant inhibitory effects were conducted. The results showed that 4 species of Chinese herbs including Salvia miltiorrhiza,Schisandra chinensis,Galla chinensis and Prunus mume could effectively inhibit the growth of Erwinia carotovora subsp.Carotovora, and the other showed no inhibitory activity against the pathogenic bacterial. The control efficacy of Galla chinensis ethanol extracts with 30 mg/mL was 65%.
