Efeitos agudos de exercícios de Pilates em adultos sedentários

2020
Pilates’s exercises have been associated with physiological effects, as increased motor performance and improved heart rate variability (HRV). This study investigated the influence of Pilates’s exercises on motor performance and HRV in adults. Subjects were 38 healthy adults, which were distributed in two groups: G1 (18 women) and G2 (20 men). Both groups were submitted to Pilates’s exercises. Measurements of HRV and analysis of muscle power, flexibility and endurance were performed before and after the Pilates’s exercises. As a result, both groups exhibited similar increase of muscle flexibility and power after exercises. Relative to HRV, Pilates intervention has reduced several responses time- and frequency-dependents, as well as geometric measures in G2 when compared to G1, sustaining interaction between sex and moment of evaluation. As a conclusion, Pilates’s exercises resulted increase of physical performance for both sexes and reduced HRV in men.
