Triple-Band Metamaterial Inspired Microstrip Antenna using Split Ring Resonators for WLAN/WiMAX Applications
2019
A triple-band metamaterial-based microstrip antenna for WLAN and WiMAX applications is proposed in this letter. The antenna consists of a rectangular microstrip patch on the foreground and two metamaterial unit cells etched on the bottom ground plane. Antenna and ground plane are printed on FR4 substrate (with the er value of 4.4). The proposed antenna operates at three frequency bands, which are 2.65GHz-2.9GHz, 3.17GHz-3.75GHz, and 5.55GHz- 6.1GHz. The radiation pattern is omnidirectional for two of the three bands and close to omnidirectional for the third band, which makes the proposed antenna a good choice for WLAN/WiMax.
